JKPM Extra-ordinary Meeting of State Executive Council

Srinagar: An urgent meeting of the state executive council of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM) necessitated by the prevailing situations in the party and Jammu and Kashmir was held in Srinagar on Sunday, 16th August 2020. Most of the executive members were present in person while others joined through virtual mode. The important decisions taken in the extra-ordinary meeting are:

• The council has unanimously rejected the resignation of JKPM patron, Dr. Shah Faesal and Chairman JKPM, Mr. Javed Mustafa Mir. The council discussed the issue thoroughly and reached a consensus that since the executive council has not received any formal resignation letters as per the constitution of the party from the said leaders and therefore they continue to be in the party positions they enjoyed before. The council members tried to reach them but failed as they are in home detention.

• The views uttered by the former Vice-President, JKPM, Mr. Feroz Peerzada were not the views of the party and perhaps they were uttered by him in his personal capacity. When Dr. Shah Faesal and Mr. Javed Mustafa Mir have not tendered any formal resignation to the state executive council, how come the party will take a call on matters that did not happen in reality. The party leaders tried to reach Dr. Shah Faesal and Mr. Javed Mustafa Mir on the basis of media reports but failed to meet them as they are in home detention.

• To ward off the confusion and protests in the party cadre and across Jammu and Kashmir, the executive council meet attended by 12 members out of 15 members of the council has appointed Dr. Mohammad Hussain Paddar as the working president, Mr. Mohammad Ramzan, former secretary J&K assembly as vice-president, Mr. Ashok Kumar Karhalu as vice-president, Dr. Ghulam Mustafa Khan as general secretary and chief spokesperson, Mr. Rohit Sharma as secretary, Advocate Nazim Qazi as secretary, Mr. Umar Rather as secretary, Mr. Mir Mudasir as treasurer, Mr. Javed Ahmad Khan as joint secretary, Mr. Riyaz Majid as executive member, Mr. Feroz Wani as executive member, Mr. Parvaiz Qadir as executive member, Mr. Iqbal Bhat as executive member, Mr. Javed Neelora as executive member Mr. Ayaz as executive member, and Mr. Mir Azad as executive member.

• JKPM was born for fair, transparent, progressive politics and development of Jammu and Kashmir and the country and Dr. Shah Faesal and Mr. Javed Mustafa Mir are the lighting conductors of that vision and mission.

• JKPM will work for the democracy of the country and the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
