JKBOSE Considering To Defer Class 10, 12 Annual Exams

Srinagar: The J&K State Board of School Education (JKBOSE) is considering deferment of the class 10 and 12 annual examinations after the Directorate of School Education Kashmir said that the students had not fully covered their courses of study.

The JKBOSE recently said it had tentatively scheduled the class 12 and 10 exams respectively from second and third week of October.

However, in a letter written by the directorate on Saturday, Director School Education Kashmir, G N Itoo has requested the JKBOSE to defer the class 10 and 12 examinations to 1st week of November.

In the letter, the DSEK has said “due to law and order problem in the valley, the syllabus is yet to be covered fully as per the requirement…”

The DSEK has even said that the students “have started feeling panic” at the JKBOSE scheduling the exams in October only.

“In the larger interest of students, it is requested that the examination for class 10th may be conducted from first week of November, 2018 and for class 12th from 15th of November, 2018,” reads the letter.

Secretary JKBOSE, Riyaz Ahmad told Kashmir Reader that the DSEK’s request to defer the annual examinations was “under consideration”.

Although the JKBOSE had not yet officially deferred the examinations, Riyaz said that they were “thinking upon it”.

The class 10 and 12 students also said that they had not completed their courses of study in the current academic session.

Syed Sarim, a class 12 student requested the JKBOSE to defer the examination at least till last week of October “so that we get sufficient time for preparation”.

“We have not completed our syllabus yet due to frequent closure of schools,” Sarim said.
