J&K Policemen walks 10 KM on foot to shift critically ailing women to hospital in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 27: The J&K Cops on Wednesday walked ten kilomters on foot to evacuate critically ailing woman and shift her to hospital for immediate medical treatment.  

The cops from Police Station Bonyar reached the village Chotali Uri amid heavy snowfall after the family of women contacted Police Station seeking help.

The incharge of Police Station immediately rushed the team of Police to village which is around 10 kilometers away from the Police Station. Due to accumulated snow and continues snowfall, the road to village was not mortorable.

“The Police team reached the village and took the ailing women on shoulders. They then again started journey on foot to hospital. The Police had brought necessary medicines, warm blanket and other equipments along for the safe shifting of patient,” locals told ANN News.

They added that the Police team didn’t waste even a second. “The villagers insisted them to have a cup of tea to get some warmth before they proceed to hospital. But they refused and said that every second is precious for the patient and their priority is to reach hospital,” said Abdul Majeed, a local who witnessed evacuation operation.

The doctors at hospital, as per family members of the patient, said that any further delay in reaching hospital would have threatened the life of patient.

Police refused to comment on the matter, however, a Police official wishing anonymity told ANN News “We are in the service of nation. It is our duty to protect the life and property of common people at any cost. It doesn’t matter whether you go in car or on foot, summer of winter. We are always a just phone call away to reach for your help.”

A medico at hospital said that woman is now stable and would be discharged shortly.
