J&K Police effectively fighting terrorism: Amit Shah

Stone pelting ended, record breaking tourist footfall, theaters & movies back after 33 years, Muharram processions carried out on traditional routes under PM Narendra Modi’s regime

 Srinagar, Aug 10  : Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that Jammu and Kashmir Police is effectively fighting against terrorism in Valley. He said under PM Narendra Modi’s regime certain things happened after a gap of 33 years which include end of stone pelting, record breaking tourist footfall, return of theaters & movies and Muharram procession carried out on traditional routes.

Shah while lauding the role of Jammu and Kashmir Police said JKP is effectively fighting against terrorism in valley. “J&K Police is effectively fighting against terrorism in Kashmir valley. This force is at the forefront and has achieved milestones in combating terror. They have eliminated top militant commanders and have broken the bone of terrorism in Kashmir,” Shah said in his speech in Parliament.

He said BJP is a democratic party and believes in democratic ethos and values. “J&K is ruled by three families – NC, PDP and Congress – who never bothered to hold Panchayat polls. It was PM Narendra Modi’s government who conducted Panchayat elections in November, December 2018 under nine phases, thus ensured democracy at grassroots level,” he said.

He also said that due to bold and effective measures the PM Narendra Modi led government ended stone pelting in Kashmir valley. “Today there is no mark of stone pelting in J&K,” Shah added.

Enumerating achievements done under PM Narendra Modi’s rule, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that after a gap of 33 years Kashmir valley has witnessed unprecedented changes on ground. “In 2022, J&K saw 1 crore 80 lac record breaking tourist footfall. Theaters reopened and movies being filmed after more than three decades. Most importantly Muharram processions which were banned in NC, PDP and Congress governments, have been allowed to carry out on their traditional routes,” he added.

Shah said there were several sections of the society who were deprived from basic rights but under PM Modi’s ruled several initiatives were taken which include reservation to dalit’s; adhivasi’s; and others. Also domicile were issued to West Pakistan Refugees (WPRs). (KNS)
