J&K Police Debunk Misinformation on Social Media Regarding Detentions

Tariq Bhat

Jammu and Kashmir Police have urged the public to avoid giving any credence to unfounded and misleading claims circulating on social media, specifically assertions that “thousands of people are lying in jails.” In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the police clarified that these allegations are baseless and driven by mischievous elements with a history of attempting to disrupt the electoral process.

The police emphasized that only a small number of individuals, who have criminal backgrounds or are known for their disruptive activities, are being dealt with as per the law. “Few mischievous elements with past conduct and proclivity of disrupting the electoral process, and having criminal antecedents, are being dealt with and bound down,” the post read.
