J&K LG, other leaders condemn killing of two VDGs in Kishtwar
JAMMU (KIMS) — Prominent political leaders, including the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, the Chief Minister, former Chief Ministers, and other leaders, have strongly condemned the killing of two Village Defence Guards (VDGs) in Kishtwar district of Jammu region on Thursday.
LG Manoj Sinha strongly condemned the attack on VDG members, stating: “No words are strong enough to condemn the heinous terrorist attack on VDG members in Kishtwar.”
Extending condolences to the bereaved families, he said: “I convey my heartfelt condolences to the families of brave sons martyred in this cowardly attack. We are firmly resolved to destroy all terror outfits and avenge this barbaric act.”
Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, and National Conference (NC) Vice-President Omar Abdullah, along with his father, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir state and President, National Conference (NC), Farooq Abdullah, have also condemned the killing of the two Village Defence Guards in Kishtwar. They stated: “Such acts of barbaric violence remain a significant impediment in achieving long-lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir. In this hour of grief, our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased.”
Former Chief Minister of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President, Mehbooba Mufti, has also condemned the killings. She has extended her heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims in this hour of grief.
Offering condolences to the bereaved families, Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference (JKPC) President Sajad Lone said: “Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of two Village Defence Guards (VDGs) in Kishtwar, who were brutally shot dead. My heartfelt condolences to their families and loved ones. May they rest in peace.”
Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Kavinder Gupta, and J&K Congress Vice-President Ravinder Sharma, also condemned the killings.
On Thursday, two Village Defence Guards, who had gone to graze their cattle in the Munzla Dhar forest of the Adhwari area in Kishtwar district, were abducted and killed by militants. — (KIMS)
