J&K Health Department Reshuffles 26 Officials to Overhaul Health Sector

Srinagar, Aug 16  : In a significant move to improve the healthcare system in Jammu and Kashmir, the Health and Medical Education Department has transferred and posted 26 key officials across various districts in the Union Territory.

The reshuffle is aimed at ensuring the smooth functioning of the health sector, enhancing service delivery, and providing patients with more efficient and timely medical care.

As part of the changes, Dr. Muzaffar Hussaini has been appointed as the Medical Superintendent of Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag, while Dr. Rubeena Shaheen will now lead as Medical Superintendent of the Super Specialty Hospital in Srinagar. Additionally, Dr. Nighat Yasmeen will take charge as the Medical Superintendent in Ganderbal, alongside her current duties.

Several other crucial appointments include Dr. Khalid Abbas Molvi, who is set to serve as Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Shopian, and Dr. Mohd. Tarig Jan, who will oversee the JLNM Hospital in Srinagar.

This reshuffle reflects the department’s efforts to revamp healthcare management across Jammu and Kashmir. By strategically placing experienced professionals in key positions, the Health Department aims to address existing gaps in the healthcare system and improve patient care.

New postings include Dr. Syed Arshid Qadri as Medical Superintendent of Gousia Hospital, Srinagar, and Dr. Aijaz Kanth, who will lead District Hospital Budgam. Several Block Medical Officers (BMOs) have also been reassigned, with Dr. Lahoot Hassan handling additional responsibilities at Khansahib and Dr. Mir Mushtag taking over at Magam.

Other notable appointments are Dr. Abdul Roof as DTO Srinagar, Dr. Aijaz Ahmad Bhat as Medical Superintendent of GMC Handwara, and Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Kohli as Chief Medical Officer of Reasi. In the Jammu region, Dr. Anuradha Kerni will now serve as District Immunization Officer (DIO) Udhampur, while Dr. Shamim Ahmad is appointed Medical Superintendent of GMC Rajouri.

This large-scale reshuffling is part of the government’s broader effort to overhaul the health infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Health Department aims to ensure that health facilities across both urban and rural areas are well-staffed with capable professionals, positioning the Union Territory to provide better healthcare services to its citizens.(KNS)
