J&K Govt notifies Rules for recruitment of Outstanding Sportspersons against Gazetted, non-Gazzetted posts

Srinagar, Jan 7: J&K Government has notified the rules for recruitment of Outstanding Sportspersons against Gazetted and non-Gazzetted posts reserved for the sportsperson.
The rules, Jammu and Kashmir (Appointment of Outstanding Sports Persons) Rules, 2022, are applicable for recruitment of Outstanding Sportspersons against Gazetted
and Non-Gazetted posts reserved for the purpose.
Under the Rules, “Outstanding Sportspersons” means a Sportsperson who is a domicile of Union Territory of Jammu
and Kashmir and has represented India in International Games/Competitions such as Olympic Games, Paralympic, World Cup, Asian Games, Commonwealth
Games, International Cricket Matches, World University Games.
The Rules further provide that a sportsperson should have represented at the District, State/UT and National level competitions prior to International Competitions.
Regulating the procedure for appointment to any Gazetted or Non-Gazetted service under the rules, the
General Administration Department, subject to availability of posts, on the recommendation of the Committee, consider the appointment of an Outstanding Sportspersons
at its sole discretion, in any subject to following:
- Persons possessing qualification as graduation or above may be considered for appointment against a vacancy in the Gazetted service.
- Persons possessing qualification as Matric or above may be considered for appointment against a vacancy in the Non- Gazetted service.
Persons must possess certificate of Outstanding Sportspersons from the Youth Services & Sports
Department.
Medal winning outstanding sportsperson in Olympic Games (Summer/Winter)and
Paralympics having qualification as 10+2 or above will be considered for appointment against a vacancy in the Gazetted service:
Provided also that subject to provisions of these rules, candidates shall be considered for appointment who participated in any game recognized under these rules and secured a position as would qualify him/her to be defined as an outstanding sportsperson during the preceding five years to the date of issue of advertisement notice by the Youth Services & Sports Department for filling up the posts under these rules.
