J&K Government Announces Republic Day Awards 2026

The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has announced the list of awardees for the prestigious J&K Government Awards 2026 on the occasion of Republic Day. The awards honor individuals for their exceptional contributions in fields such as bravery, literature, arts, social service, public service, sports, media, and entrepreneurship.
According to Government Order No. 110-JK(GAD) of 2026, several personalities from across the Union Territory have been selected for their outstanding work and dedication. The awardees will receive a cash prize along with a citation in recognition of their services.
In the Bravery category, the late Adil Hussain Shah was honored posthumously, along with Nikhil Kumar (PSI). The Literature awards went to noted writers and poets including Yashpaul Nirmal, Ch. Hassan Parwaz, Parwaiz Manoos, Fayaz Dilbar (posthumously), Kewal Krishan Sharma, and Rattan Lal Sharma.
Artists from music, theatre, and performing arts, as well as master craftsmen in arts and crafts, were also recognized. Social reformers and NGO leaders including Arhan Bagati and Mehjabeen Nabi were awarded for their work in public welfare and social empowerment.
The government also honored several senior officers and professionals under Meritorious Public Service, while Mohammad Shafi Pandit (Retd. IAS) was awarded Lifetime Achievement posthumously.
Outstanding sportspersons, media professionals, and industrial entrepreneurs were also included in the list for their contributions to their respective fields.
The government said the awards are meant to recognize excellence, dedication, and service to society, and to inspire others to work for the progress and welfare of Jammu and Kashmir.
