J&K ACB registers DA case against J&K Police inspector in Jammu, seizes incriminating documents

JAMMU (KIMS) — The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday registered a disproportionate assets case against Vijay Singh Choudhary, an Inspector in the J&K Police and brother of Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary after verification revealed he allegedly amassed assets worth crores of rupees beyond his known sources of income.

ACB said the verification was conducted on the basis of specific inputs and it was found that Vijay Choudhary, son of Jia Lal Choudhary, a resident of Nonial, Nowshera in Rajouri district and presently residing at Santokh Vihar, Kaluchak in Jammu and posted in Ladakh had allegedly raised huge assets during his service at various places.

The verification further revealed that more than 10 properties, including houses, shops and land measuring about 100 kanals and valued in crores were raised by him mostly in the names of family members, relatives and others.

On the basis of the verification, a prima facie case of criminal misconduct was found against the accused under Section 13(1)(b) read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Accordingly, FIR No. 02/2026 was registered at Police Station ACB Central and investigation was taken up.

During the course of investigation, search warrants were obtained from the Special Judge Anti-Corruption Jammu, following which ACB teams carried out searches at multiple locations, including his residential houses at Santokh Vihar, Kaluchak, Jammu, Nonial, Nowshera and Rajouri, besides business premises a stone crusher and tile factory at Tutte di Khui, Bajalta, Jammu.

Some other locations in Jammu were also searched under Section 185 of the BNSS.

ACB said incriminating documents were recovered and seized during the searches in the case. Further investigation is underway. — (KIMS)
