Jammu police fines 300 people over 2 days for not wearing mask, collects Rs 1.45 lakh
Jammu: In its bid to strictly implement Covid-19 rules, the Jammu Police fined more than 300 people for not wearing face masks in the city on Wednesday and Thursday alone. The total amount that was collected from this special drive against those who are flouting the guidelines was Rs 1,45,100.
The police also made announcements at busy markets and other places to appeal to all citizens to follow proper guidelines, maintain social distancing, wear proper masks and avoid crowded places. They warned that those found violating Covid-19 guidelines in the district will be strictly dealt with as per the law.
The fine amount for those without masks in public places is Rs 500.
The union territory of Jammu and Kashmir recorded 172 fresh Covid-19 cases on Thursday, taking the cumulative case count to 1,29,203. Of the new cases, 41 were from the Jammu division.
According to officials, no coronavirus-related death was in reported in the last 24 hours. (Agency)
