“Its time for other Kashmiri detainees to return home,” Mehbooba Mufti while welcoming release of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq
Srinagar: PDP president and former Chief Minister of erstwhile state of J&K, Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday while welcoming the release of Hurriyat (M) chief Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, expatiated on the release of other Kashmiri detainees languishing in different jails of the country.
As per News Agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC), Mehbooba Mufti while welcoming the release of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq took to micro blogging site twitter and wrote, “Good to hear about Mirwaiz’s release from arbitrary detention. I hope that hundreds of Kashmiri men languishing in jails in & outside J&K will also be released soon. Its time they returned home to their families.”
Pertinently Umar Farooq was facing preventive detention and was put under house arrest from last 20 months after the BJP led Central government scrapped the special status of J&K and bifurcated the erstwhile state into two union territories in August 2019.
Meanwhile different news reports quoting top sources surfaced on different social networking sites claiming release of Mirwaiz from house detention will come to end this week. (KDC)
