Srinagar: Dr Rizwan Rumi, social activist has questioned the government over closure of educational institutions for students due to Covid-19 situation in the valley and allowance of tourist rush at famous tourist resort Gulmarg.
Dr Rizwan while talking to Kashmir Independent Media Service – KIMS said, “No social distancing and Covid SoP’s is being followed by people at tourist resort Gulmarg as cases are rising sharply in the valley,” adding that “closing educational institutions and allowing tourists doesn’t make any sense when no Covid protocols are being follow.”
“Covid protocol needs to be followed strictly in order to contain the cases,” Dr Rizwan added.
“Why only educational institutions were closed if there is threat to life due to Covid, Why not tourist destinations as well?,” questioned Dr Rizwan, adding “educational institutions are always a soft target whenever their is any crisis in the valley.”
“We welcome our tourists warm-heartedly as they are our guests, our economy depends upon them but at the same time we can’t make our students suffer by closing down institutions,” he said.
The administration must issue guidelines for do’s and don’ts in order to run everything smoothly without making anyone suffer.
