In a swift and firm response, the Iranian Embassy in New Delhi has dismissed a viral tweet from a fake social media handle that falsely claimed Kashmir belongs to Pakistan and Taiwan to China. The embassy clarified that the account in question is not affiliated with the Iranian government and condemned it as a “malicious attempt to damage the longstanding ties between India and Iran.”

 

 

 

The fabricated post had sparked a brief wave of concern on social media, suggesting a shift in Iran’s traditional foreign policy. However, the Iranian mission moved quickly to quash the misinformation, reaffirming Tehran’s consistent stance that Kashmir is an integral part of India.

 

 

 

“This fake account does not represent the views of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Such disinformation is intended to sabotage the friendly and historic relationship between our two nations,” the embassy stated.

India and Iran have shared strong cultural, economic, and strategic ties for decades. Despite global geopolitical fluctuations, Iran has consistently maintained a position respecting India’s sovereignty over Jammu and Kashmir.

Observers suggest the tweet may have been generated by actors seeking to inflame tensions or disrupt regional diplomacy. Iranian officials have urged media outlets and the public to rely only on verified sources and official government channels.

This reassurance comes at a time when India-Iran cooperation is growing stronger, particularly with the recent developments surrounding the Chabahar Port agreement and mutual support in regional stability efforts.
