Insects found in rice served to kids in ICDS centres at Sopore
Sopore, Sep 09 : Insects were found in rice served to kids at ICDS centers located at Nehrpora locality in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Sources told that insects were found in rice that was being served to the kids at two Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) centers located at Nehrpora locality in Sopore.
Concerned councilor, Irfan Ali while visiting the centres found the insects in the rice. He, however, directed the authorities to probe the issue.
“Rice is stored since months because it comes in a large quantity. This usually attracts bugs, but they can be removed,” the incharge Anganwadi teacher said.
“Parents have often gone empty-handed from Anganwadi schools because of the untimely distribution of the monthly ration,” she added.
Meanwhile, Mohsin Mushtaq, CDPO told KNO that the matter will be looked into and the grains will be changed.
He said that there are guidelines from the government not to give dry grains to children instead it should be given to them at the concerned school, that’s why it has got affected. “The fresh supply will be given to the centres,” he added—(KNO)
