Infant’s body found in Timuna, Handwara, buried

Handwara, Mar 13: In a bizarre act, an infant’s dead body was found lying in the woods of Timuna Chowkibal in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district after spotted by locals lying alongside a stump of a tree on Thursday.

An official said that an infant’s body was spotted along stump in Timuna Chowkibal in Handwara.

An official said that locals of informed local village police after which a police party reached the spot and recovered the body from the spot. After recovering the body near stump in Timuna, it was later taken to medical center for medico‐legal procedure, adding that postmortem was carried, the official said.

A top police while confirming the incident said that we have carried the post-mortem of the body and handed over the body to local Auqaf committee for last rites. He said that a case under relevant sections stands registered at police station village future probe in underway.
