Indian Army organises veterinary, medical camp in Mendhar

MENDHAR ;The Barasingha Battalion under the aegis of Krishna Ghati Brigade conducted a Medical cum Veterinary camp on 31 Oct 2021 at Mendhar Base with an aim to provide medical assistance to the local populace of Mendhar and nearby villages of Tain, Choi, Charangari and Mankote. The lecture cum counselling sessions alongwith few First Aid demonstrations by the medical specialists both from Army as well as civil, highlighted the health risks and solutions to tackle the lifestyle diseases and immediate response to a medical emergency. A strength of 785 people attended the said programme. The lecture was followed by a free COVID-19 vaccination drive and health check-ups facilitated by Primary Health Centre, Mankote in association with the Block Medical Department, Mendhar. This included free basic medical checkup including blood pressure, ECG and other co-morbities. A total number of 785 individuals including ladies and children were provided with free medicines along with medical counselling. In addition, the team of doctors and veterinary specialists carried out medical check-ups of livestock and educated locals on prevention, treatment and basic care measures for their livestock.

This camp also gave opportunity to instill/ generate interest among locals in sports activities wherein Volleyball matches and couple of athletic games were conducted for the youth followed by various games for kids with prizes for all, which they enjoyed thoroughly. In addition, women were also encouraged to participate in an event of musical chair which happened to be the showstopper activity.

Finally, the highlight of the event was a vibrant cultural programme ‘MAUSEEQI’ in which Gojri, Pahadi and other regional folks songs were played by a local troupe which was witnessed by over 785 individuals. Children from Tain, Choi and Charangari school also participated actively and showcased their talent through group song and dance performances.

The successful conduct of Medical cum Veterinary camp, COVID vaccination drive, sports events and mega cultural program is yet another demonstration of Indian Army’s outreach to the locals. The efforts were well appreciated by locals, civil administration and was covered adequately by local and state media.
