In a significant move to uphold the sanctity and security of the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY-2025), Jammu Kashmir Police have apprehended an individual at Baltal for using a fake Yatra registration card in an attempt to bypass security checks.

An official told that the accused has been identified as Shivam Mittal, son of Krishan Mittal, a resident of Dwarka Puri, Jagadhri in Haryana’s Yamunanagar district.

According to the police, the individual had acquired the forged registration card through fraudulent means and attempted to mislead security personnel stationed at checkpoints, thereby violating the mandatory verification procedures in place for the yatra.

A case under FIR No. 13/2025 has been registered at Police Station Sonamarg under relevant sections of law, and a detailed investigation is underway, the officials said.

Officials stated that the police are committed to maintaining the integrity and safety of the Amarnath Yatra and warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found engaging in similar unlawful acts. Authorities have urged the general public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activities involving fake or invalid registration documents.
