Imran Khan Slams Government from Adiala Jail: Labels February 8 as ‘Black Day’

Islamabad :-

Adiala Jail, January 29, 2025 – Former Prime Minister Imran Khan, in a fiery media talk from Adiala Jail, launched a scathing attack on the government, judiciary, and electoral system, accusing them of undermining democracy and suppressing fundamental rights.

Khan criticized the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and the 26th Constitutional Amendment, describing them as draconian measures aimed at silencing dissent, curbing press freedom, and weakening the judiciary. “Defamation is treated as a civil offense in democratic societies, but in Pakistan, it is used as a tool for persecution,” he stated.

Referring to the February 8, 2024 elections, Khan called the day a “Black Day” and alleged massive electoral fraud orchestrated by the government with the complicity of the Chief Election Commissioner, Sikandar Sultan Raja. He demanded Raja’s trial under Article 6 of the Constitution, accusing him of facilitating a stolen mandate.

Khan also condemned judicial appointments made under political influence, alleging attempts to install a Chief Justice favorable to the establishment. “The judiciary’s independence has been compromised,” he claimed.

The PTI chairman decried the government’s refusal to investigate significant events like the May 9, 2023 protests and the November 26, 2024 incidents, accusing them of fabricating narratives to suppress his party and its supporters.

Emphasizing Islamic and democratic principles, Khan urged the nation to adopt the moral and justice-oriented values of the state of Medina. “A society thrives on justice and rule of law. Without these principles, Pakistan’s future will remain bleak,” he said.

Khan concluded with a call to action, urging his supporters to remain steadfast in their struggle for “Haqeeqi Azadi” (Genuine Sovereignty) and justice. “A coward can never win; only those who never give up ultimately prevail,” he declared.

This latest statement by the PTI chief has once again sparked national debate over governance, judicial independence, and the state of democracy in Pakistan.
