IED Explosion In Awantipora, No Loss Of Life Reported
Pulwama: An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted on a road by suspected militants in Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district exploded with a loud bang in the dead of night, locals and officials said.
A police source said that militants triggered the IED, planted in the middle of road, in Amlar village of Awantipora at around 3:00 am.
However, the source said there was no loss of life or injury to anyone due to the explosion.
A group of local residents told Greater Kashmir that they heard a very loud explosion around 3:00 am, triggering panic in the area.
A nearby residential house, they said, suffered little damage. “The blast caused a huge crater in the middle of the road where it was planted. The window panes and glasses of a nearby house were also shattered,” said a local resident.
Soon after the attack, additional forces were rushed to the spot and a combing operation was launched to nab the militants, the official said.
