I will be able to walk again, says CVF victim, Gets artificial limbs from Army

Baramulla: Army in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district provided artificial limbs to an individual, who had lost both his legs to subsequent amputation after sustaining injuries during the ceasefire violation in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district last year.

A senior defence official told that Artificial Limb was provided to Victim Syed Nadir Hussain Son of Syed Peer Hussain resident of village Kamalkote age 51 year who was severely Injured due To Unprovoked Ceasefire Violation (CFV) by Pakistan On 13 November 2020 last year.

He said that Nadir lost both his legs in subsequent amputation right below the knee and left above the knee before the incident.

“He was employed as a helper at the government ration store Kamalkote and is the sole earning member of his family consisting of his wife, three daughters and one son and aged parents,” the official said.

He said that Nadir comes from an extremely poor financial background and was unable to meet the expenditure for Artificial Limbs. “8 Rashtriya Rifles (MADRAS) Under the aegis of Kalapahar Brigade rose to the occasion and took up a Case for the provisioning of same as a result of which the individual has been provided Artificial Limbs under Sadhavana”, the official said.

This act would not only go a long way in winning the heart and minds of people but also aid an extremely poor family in dire straits, the official maintained.

Recounting the gory day, Nadir said that while working at a local store along with two other associates two shells fired from Pakistan took their life and left me grievously injured following which he lost both his legs. “I am very thankful to the Army for their support and now I will be able to move on my own. I will walk in my lawn”, he said.

Syed Aftar Hussain, brother of Nadir while expressing satisfaction said that after the artificial limbs he will be able to walk now.

A senior Army official said that it’s the efforts of the medical team and our only compensation and satisfaction is the smile on Nadir’s face since he will ne now able to walk on his own after this long.(KNO)
