How ABHA app ensures timely, quality treatment to patients in Kashmir’s Govt hospitals
Srinagar, Oct 25 : Waiting in long queues outside hospitals has become a practice of the past as ABHA App introduced recently by the central government is yielding remarkable results by improving healthcare in Jammu and Kashmir.
As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the ABHA Mobile application was introduced in October last year as part of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). Patients can instantly register by scanning the QR code at the Out-Patient Department (OPD) registration counter and sharing their ABHA profile with the paperless service.
The mobile application significantly reduces waiting time and streamlines the registration process for patients visiting the hospitals.
In Jammu and Kashmir, the App is bringing relief to the patients, who now get instant treatment without wasting time in long queues to get the OPD tickets.
So far the service has been extended to over 55 hospitals including tertiary, district, and sub-district level hospitals in Jammu with government planning to cover primary health institutes in a phased manner.
In fact, Jammu and Kashmir was declared as one among the top performing states and Union Territories (UTs) in implementation of Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA)-based Scan and Share service for OPD registration service.
While doctors said the service has improved the patient care in hospitals, the patients claimed that the timely treatment was the plus point of this service.
“This service took an hour. We get to treat more patients now on a daily basis. This App has streamlined the entire process of admissions in the Out-door Patient Department,” said a health expert Dr Imtaiyaz Ahmad.
Patients said that the service has ensured the timely treatment to them.
“Waiting to get an OPD ticket was consuming a lot of time for the patients. With this service, the hospitals in Kashmir don’t seem overcrowded and patients get desired timely treatment for their ailments,” said Sajad Ahmad Khan, a patient who has been availing this service for the last three months.
Pertinently, the app has been downloaded by over one million people on google play with over 1 crore patients have used it throughout India till first week of October—(KNO)
