Hospitals Asked To Stop Use Of ‘Ringer Lactate’ Injection After Patients Develop Allergic Symptoms

Srinagar: Jammu Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation (JKMSC) has issued a ‘drug alert’ after several patients at JVC Bemina developed allergic symptoms after they were administered ‘Ringer Lactate’ injection.

Chief Medical Officers from Srinagar, Budgam, Pulwama, Ganderbal and Medical Superintendent JLNM Hospital Rainawari, Srinagar have been directed to stop the use of ‘Ringer Lactate’ injection immediately.

Sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that Medical Officer Drug Ware House Bemina issued directions after a number of patients at JVC Bemina developed allergic symptoms. Sources said that those who were injected ‘Ringer Lactate’ 500 ml developed reactions creating panic in the hospital.

The said injection has been manufactured by M/s Pharma Surge Impex Laboratories.

The order issued reads that all chief Medical Officers are requested to inform the end users under their jurisdiction to stop the use of ‘Ringer Lactate’ injection till the final report is sought from the Empaneled laboratories or Government Analysts.

Ringer’s lactate is normally given to those who have low blood volume or low blood pressure.  (KNT)
