Heavy Rains, Cloudburst Threat in J&K: MeT Issues Advisory

SRINAGAR, SEPT 2  : The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Tuesday issued a weather advisory, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in several districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the advisory, a generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rain and thunder is expected at many places on September 2–3. Districts including Kathua, Jammu, Udhampur, and Reasi are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Other districts Doda, Samba, Rajouri, Poonch, Ramban, Kishtwar, Anantnag, and Kulgam may see moderate to heavy rainfall, particularly during the late night of September 2 and the early morning of September 3.

The forecast also predicts brief spells of rain and thunder at some places between September 4–7, followed by moderate rain over parts of Jammu Division on the night of September 8 and morning of September 9. Weather is expected to improve from September 9 till the evening of September 11.

The advisory has cautioned of cloudbursts, flash floods, landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones at several vulnerable locations.
