Heat Wave: MeT advises people to avoid heat exposure, Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Meteorological Department (MeT) on Friday advised people, especially vulnerable individuals, to avoid heat exposure and stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids and water.

This advice comes as a heat wave is expected to persist in both the Jammu and Kashmir divisions for the next five days.

The Meteorological Department (MeT) has forecast hot and dry weather in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir until the end of this month.

An official of the Meteorological Department (MeT) said, “The weather is expected to remain generally dry with the possibility of thundershower activity at isolated places from May 24-28.”

He said, “From May 29-31, we anticipate partly to generally cloudy weather conditions with light rain or thundershowers at isolated places, particularly during the afternoon.”

Meanwhile, the Summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar recorded 15.4°C, Qazigund, and Kupwara each 12.0°C, Kokernag 13.0°C, Gulmarg 11.8°C, and Pahalgam 8.5°C as the Minimum temperature in Kashmir region on Friday.

The Winter capital, Jammu recorded 27.6°C, Katra 23.2°C, Batote 15.3°C, Banihal 12.6°C, and Bhaderwah 13.0°C as the Minimum temperature in Jammu region.

In Ladakh region, Leh recorded 12.3°C and Kargil 10.8°C as the Minimum temperature. — (KIMS)
