Srinagar, Aug 11: The sale of tricolour has risen manifolds in Srinagar, leaving traders and manufacturers scrambling to meet the pent-up demands.
Many people said that they have booked the orders and are eagerly waiting to hoist tricolor under the campaign ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ at their respective homes and offices.

One of the journalists whose office is located in Srinagar Press Colony said that he has also booked the order. “The national flag will be arriving tomorrow in morning and I will proudly hoist it on my office at Srinagar Press Enclave,” he said.

Mushtaq Ahmad, a wholesale trader from Srinagar said that he had been in the business of supplying national flags for over 30 years. “But I have never witnessed such an enormous demand for the tricolour in the past. After the campaign Har Ghar Tiranga, I am falling short of supply,” he added.

Traders in Kashmir said that sale of tricolours has increased manifold since the announcement of the campaign by Prime Minister Narendra Modi

‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ is a campaign under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to encourage people to bring the Tiranga home and to hoist it to mark the 75th year of India’s independence.

In Kashmir, the har Ghar Tiranga campaign is getting warm response and besides homes, people are also hoisting tricolors at their offices.

“Our relationship with the flag has always been more formal and institutional than personal. Bringing the flag home collectively as a nation in the 75th year of independence thus becomes symbolic of not only an act of personal connection to the Tiranga but also an embodiment of our commitment to nation-building,” said an official.

The idea behind the initiative is to invoke the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of the people and to promote awareness about the National Flag.
