Gun no solution to any problem: Kashmiri youth,”We want dates in anticipation about interlocutor visit, to call on him”
Srinagar, Dec 1: Kashmir issue must be resolved through peaceful means and gun is no solution to any problem, said a group of youth during an interaction event organized by South Asia peace Movement here on Saturday.
The event titled “How Kashmiri youth can to make future better” held at a local hotel here, the participants stressed upon the need of true leadership capable of taking up genuine grievances of people of Kashmir with Government of India.
The youth hailed the appointment of interlocutor and impressed upon state authorities to publish dates in advance when a common man, especially a delegation of youth can call on Sharma in Srinagar.
Former Intelligence Bureau director Dineshwar Sharma was appointed as its representative by Government of India in 2017 “for a sustained dialogue with all stakeholders.” His appointment is seen as positive sign in Kashmir and is also emerging as big hope for the people of Kashmir.
“We strongly believe that interlocutor Dineshwar Sharma is a man of integrity. He is giving patient hearing to all whoever meets him. However, we often come to know about his visits through media,” said Waseem Raja.
“We urge state authorities to publish dates of his arrival in anticipation so that youth delegation can also make registration and seek appointment to call on him,” said Muhammad Yaseen, another participant.
They also said that gun is no solution to any problem. “Any socio-political or economical grievances can be taken up with Government of India through dialogue and Kashmir issue can also be resolved through peaceful means,” said Nizam Ahmad, a youth from Downtown who spoke on length on the topic.
Chairman South Asia Peace Movement Tariq Bhat in his address during the event assured youth that he would use his good offices to take up their suggestions and feedback with concerned authorities.
