Govt sanctions ₹827.98 crore for 4-lane highway project in J&K: Nitin Gadkari

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Government of India has approved ₹827.98 crore for the construction and upgrading of a 4-lane highway in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, the project will cover a 12.11 km stretch from Pandach to Manigam near Wayil Bridge.

He stated that the project includes 1 major bridge, 3 minor bridges, 3 realignments, and 51 box culverts, along with a 2.55 km elevated structure passing through Ganderbal Town.

As part of Srinagar Ring Road (Phase-IIA), this highway aims to enhance connectivity for tourists and defense vehicles traveling to Leh and Kargil.

The project is expected to streamline access to key regions, bolster regional security, promote tourism, and improve overall travel efficiency. — (KIMS)
