Govt lecturer arrested with 103 bottles of codeine syrup in Budgam: Police

Budgam, Aug 08, : A government lecturer was arrested with codeine syrup in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, police said.

A police official told news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) that “During naka checking at Wadwan Budgam, a police party of Police Post Soibugh intercepted one vehicle, a Chevrolet Spark  bearing registration number JK01L 4385. During the search of the said vehicle, 103 bottles of codeine phosphate were recovered from the vehicle.”

He said the drug peddler who was driving the vehicle was arrested on the spot & was subsequently a government lecturer in the education department identified as Syed Irfan-ul-Haq son of Late Zia-ud-din, a resident of Tengbagh Khayam Srinagar. The vehicle used for Commission of the crime has also been seized.

A case FIR number 244/2021 under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Budgam and investigation taken up, he added. (KDC)
