Govt announces Winter Vacation in Kashmir: Pre-Primary from Nov 26, Classes 1–8 from Dec 1, Classes 9–12 from Dec 11

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Government of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday ordered winter vacations for all Government and recognised private schools up to Higher Secondary level in the Kashmir Division, as well as in the winter zones of Jammu Division.

According to an order, pre-primary classes will observe vacation from 26 November, 2025 to 28 February, 2026, while classes 1st to 8th standard will remain closed from 1 December, 2025 to 28 February, 2026.

For 9th to 12th standard, the vacation period will begin from 11 December, 2025 and end on 22 February, 2026.

The order further states that all teaching faculty must remain available for academic activities during the vacation, and must report back to their institutions on 20 February, 2026 to prepare for reopening.

It also warns that any failure by Heads of Institutions or teaching staff to follow the schedule will attract strict action. — (KIMS)
