GMC Anantnag Achieves Medical Milestone with Successful Removal of Spinal Cord Tumor
Anantnag, August 23, 2024 – The Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag has marked a significant achievement in the field of medical science by successfully performing a complex spinal cord (intradural) tumor removal surgery at the L1 level on a 45-year-old male patient from Anantnag district. This groundbreaking procedure underscores GMC Anantnag’s commitment to providing advanced medical care to the people of the region.
The intricate surgery was expertly conducted by a dedicated team comprising Dr. Younis Kamal, Spine Surgeon and HOD orthopedics and Dr. Basharat Mujtaba, Sr. Neurosurgeon. This collaboration between the departments of Orthopaedics and Spine Surgery has set a new precedent, being the first of its kind performed at GMC Anantnag.
The patient is currently recuperating swiftly in the ICU ward and is reported to be in stable condition.
