Glorious sacrifices of J&K Police brings youth to mainstream in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 29: In last three decades, Kashmir witnessed death and destruction because of Pakistan sponsored terrorism.
Pakistan used propaganda and all other means to exploit the local youth in Kashmir on the name of “Jihad.”
But J&K Police always remained on forefront to help civilians, kill Pakistani terrorists and counsel local youth.
The supreme sacrifices of J&K Police are innumerable and the peace in Kashmir owes its origin to J&K Police Department.
In last two years, Kashmiri youth have also been largely participating in different programmes organized by J&K Police, especially the events where they can show their talent and skills.
“The J&K Police is rendering tireless services. They have innumerable glorious sacrifices and we salute them,” said Fazil Rashid, a local youth of Bemina who aspires to be a Police Officer.
He added that being in Police means to strive continuously to ensure peaceful life for the commoners and keeps peace and safety in society.
A Political Science Professor at Kashmir University said that policemen strive hard for maintaining societal health keeping aside their personal life and family interests.
“Their bravery and valour would lead to creation of a crime-free society,” he said.
He added that the supreme sacrifices by J&K Policemen and Police officers are unparallel and signifies sacrifice and martyrdom.
A group of youth at Bijbehra Anantnag said that they condemn the terrorist acts wherein a police officer was killed at home.
“It is not bravery. A policeman was off the duty to spent some time at home in Anantnag and terrorist come and kill the unarmed person. The Policeman was coming back from mosque after offering Nimaz. It is shameful and cowardice act of terrorists,” they said.
On 19 October 2020, a police officer Muhammad Ashraf was shot dead by terrorists near his house in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag.
Ashraf was returning home from a mosque when he was attacked.
“On duty Police man is a servant of nation. We work 24*7 to serve the nation. The entire country is our family,” said on duty cop at Jahangir Chowk, adding, “We think we have delivered a bit in line of duty when we are shrouded in tri-colour.”
Now, large number of youth in Kashmir is preparing themselves to qualify the exams to become a part of J&K Police Department.
“Let us recall their glorious sacrifice of J&K Police and take forward the spirit and the ideals for which J&K Policemen sacrificed their invaluable lives,” said Nazia Jan, who prepares to be an IPS officer.
However, some of the youngsters said that civil administration must learn from the sacrifices of Police.
“There is lot of corruption in various government departments. Some officials are looting the government and the common people in J&K. they must learn from the sacrifices of Police as how to serve the nation to make the country great,” said Umar Adil, a local of Baramulla.
Seconding him, Arif Ahmad said that J&K Police department has also been on forefront in eradication of corruption. “Now a days, we see that Anti Corruption wing of Police is registering cases, arresting accused persons involved in looting state exchequer,” he added.
A Professor of Psychology at Kashmir University said there has been a trend in past two years people participating in thousands in the last rites of martyred Policemen.
Elaborating, he said 32-year-old Jammu and Kashmir police officer Ferooz Ahmad Dar was laid to rest in the family’s ancestral graveyard in Dogripora village in Pulwama district where thousands bidding him a tearful adieu.
Dar and five other policemen were killed in a gruesome ambush in Achabal in Anantnag district by terrorists in 2017.
“Now, we have youngster who aspire to be a cop. Policemen in our society are receiving highest respect. The fact is that the police administration has brought lot of positive changes in society that has won hearts and minds of people especially that of youngsters in Kashmir,” he said.
“The message is loud and clear. Glorious sacrifices of J&K Police has brought astray youth to mainstream. The Police-Public programmes have also played vital role and Pakistan is helpless after its propaganda has no takers in Kashmir. It is all because of the correct measures and supreme sacrifices of J&K Police,” he added.
