Four Militants Killed In Twin Encounters In Valley
SRINAGAR — Four militants, affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant outfits were killed in two different encounters between government forces and militants in Kashmir valley on Tuesday.
An encounter broke out between joint team of government forces and militants at Tujan village in Pulwama district of South Kashmir during the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday in which two militants were killed. Within few hours another encounter broke out between joint team of forces and militants at Tulibal area of Sopore town in North Kashmir in which two more militants were killed, taking toll to four.
Reports said a joint team of government forces including Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) at Tujan village in Pulwama district following the inputs about presence of militants in the area. Similar kind of search operation was launched by joint team of forces at Tulibal area of Sopore town.
They said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spots, militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
In the encounter at Tujan Pulwama two militants identified as Abid Ahmad Sheikh from Barpora Pulwama and Majid Nazir Wani from Banpora Ladhoo Pampore, affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant outfit were killed while as militants killed in Tulibal Sopore have been identified as Zahid Ahmad Chopan from Tengwani Shopian and Mohd Youns Gul from Washbugh Pulwama, affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant outfit.
Incriminating materials, huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter in Tujan Pulwama while as Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including 02 AK-47 rifles and 04 Magazines have been recovered from the site of encounter at Tulibal Sopore.
According to police statement, “both the killed militants in Tujan Pulwama encounter were part of group involved in several terror crime cases including attacks on security forces and civilian atrocities. Besides, the killed militant Majid Nazir Wani was also involved in the killing of Martyr SI Farooq Ahmad in Samboora Pulwama on 18 June, 2022.”
“Both the killed militants in Tulibal Sopore had joined militant folds recently”, the statement said.
Meanwhile Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar has congratulated the joint teams for carrying out the anti-militancy operations in professional manner without any collateral damage.
He also appreciated the joint team for tracking and neutralizing the militant involved in the recent killing of police officer in Samboora Pulwama. — (KIMS)
