FIR can’t be lodged against Lal Singh without consent of Speaker: Official
Srinagar, Amid demand for FIR against BJP MLA Chowdhary Lal Singh for threatening Kashmir media of Shujaat like incident by PDP and National Conference, the authorities on Sunday said that the issue is being examined by the law department and if at all action is warranted under rules it requires the consent of Speaker Assembly keeping in view the fact that accused is a sitting MLA.
When contacted Director General Police Dr S P Vaid told KNS “I have no knowledge about any FIR against Lal Singh over his remark against Kashmir media as the matter is being examined by law department.”
A top government official on conditions of anonymity told KNS “the issue of filing an FIR against Lal Singh is to be decided by Speaker Assembly without whose consent action can’t be contemplated against any sitting MLA.
It is in place to mention here that both PDP and National Conference have demanded an immediate FIR and arrest of Chowdhary Lal Singh over his controversial remark in which he warned Kashmiri Journalists of a Shujaat like incident if they don’t draw a line.
