Fake News Row; Police take up investigations, 2 Journalists summoned
Srinagar, Jan 31: J&K Police has taken cognizance of fake news wherein it was claimed that killed Pakistani militants are locals.
Sources told ANN News that two journalists have been summoned for running a fake story that a civilian Inayat Mir was killed by the security forces in the Pulwama encounter.
“The reality Is that Inayat Mir was an OGW converted terrorist,” said a Police Officer.
His sister has claimed in a video statement that when Police were evacuating the civilians from the operation site, she urged her brother (Inayat ) to come out with them but he didn’t come out and said that he would like to die with the other terrorists who were present in their house.
She has further said in the statement that terrorists came to their house on Thursday at 10 PM.
“Taking cognisance of the fake news and it’s implications on the overall peace and order, Pulwama Police has summoned two journalists in this regard and investigation has started under relevant sections of the law,” a top police official told ANN News.
The police has also appealed people to not pay heed to fake News and verify facts before sharing any such post on social media.
