Srinagar, Sep 11: The Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday said that it would file a criminal case against individuals responsible for creating and circulating a fake letter on social media, falsely claiming BJP workers were instructed to welcome Engineer Rashid.

The letter, which was spread on social media, appeared to be on official BJP letterhead and instructed party workers in Kashmir to attend a welcome rally for the release of Er. Rashid.

BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur clarified the situation, issuing a statement that the letter is fake.
“A fake and baseless letter is circulating, claiming that BJP workers are directed to welcome Sheikh Abdur Rashid upon his release. This letter is completely fabricated and has no connection to the BJP. We urge the police to take strong action and expose those behind this mischievous act,” he said.

The party has called on law enforcement to investigate and identify the perpetrators responsible for the misleading document.

Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) spokesperson Inam un Nabi accused NC and BJP for it.

“The NC and PDP have sunk to new lows in their desperation to undermine Er Rashid’s growing support. Their latest tactic of spreading malicious falsehoods is a disgrace to political integrity. These parties are now nothing more than purveyors of deceit. Their actions reveal their deep-seated fear and utter lack of principles. It’s appalling to witness such hypocrisy and moral bankruptcy from so-called leaders,” he tweeted.
