Encounter Likely As Forces Launched Cordon In Sopore Village, Internet Suspended
Sopore, May 18: Government forces on Saturday morning launched a cordon and search operation in Sopore village of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Reports reaching GNS said that additional reinforcements of army and Special Operation Group of police have been rushed to Hathlangoo village in Sopore area as chances of encounter between forces and militants believed to be holed up are rife.
One militant is believed to be trapped in the area, reports said.
SSP Sopore Javeed Iqbal told GNS that search operation in the area is going on.
He said that as of now no contact with militants has been established.
Earlier, army’s 22 RR and SOG have launched a cordon-and-search operation at Hathlangoo village following specific information about the presence of militants inside a residential house.
Meanwhile authorities suspended internet services in Sopore town as a precautionary measure in wake of this search operation. (GNS)
