Educational institutions in Kashmir to remain closed for two days: Sakina Itoo
SRINAGAR (KIMS) — In view of protests across the Kashmir Valley against the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei, the Jammu and Kashmir government on Sunday decided to close all educational institutions in Kashmir for two days as a precautionary measure.
The decision has been taken to ensure the safety of students.
“We have decided to keep schools, colleges and universities closed for two days. We will take a call on reopening educational institutions only after assessing the ground situation,” Education Minister Sakina Itoo said.
Classes up to 8th standard were scheduled to reopen on Monday following a winter break of over two months, while classes 9th to 12th had resumed on February 23 after the winter vacation.
Protests were held across the Valley on Sunday against the killing of Khamenei in an airstrike carried out by Israel and the United States. — (KIMS)
