DSS Celebrates Laying of Foundation Stone of Balidan Stambh at Srinagar
A great day in the history of J&K: DSS
Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) held a special meeting in the Sabha Bhawan at Dogra Hall where members from neighbouring Districts, Distinguished citizens, executive body members and other prominent citizens participated. In one voice all members hailed the visit of Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah and laying of the foundation stone for the War Memorial as a tribute to all the countrymen from various Armed Forces who made the Supreme Sacrifices in defending, protecting, securing and constantly fighting against the inimical forces who attacked and terrorised the local population and forced enormous painful miseries on peace loving local populace. It is by their sacrifices that the era of extortions, Fidayan attacks, bank robberies, weapon snatchings, forced shut downs of institutes/ offices and markets, stone pelting and Pakistan sponsored acts of terror have been defeated. The day marks a turning point in the history of J&K and will be remembered in golden letters. The State war memorial will be a place of pilgrimage for all those Indians who have given their dearest possession- their bread earners for the cause of the nation. It will be a constant everlasting connection between J&K and rest of the nation, encouraging nationalist tourism as the family members from throughout the country visit the memorial to pay homage to their dear ones. President DSS, Th. Gulchain Singh Charak called it a major positive step. He profusely thanked Hon’ble Lt Governor Shri Manoj Sinha and his team to accept this long pending demand of Dogra Sadar Sabha. Col Virendra K Sahi, VrC, Director J&K War Decorated India (WDI) who has been raising this issue at various platforms over ten years was emotional with happiness as he thanked the government for making the J&K warriors feel “One with the Nation”.
The members urged the Hon’ble LG and the government to complete this project on war footing to make it at least presentable enough by Independence Day 2023 and in full bloom by Republic Day 2024. This will be the biggest gift from J&K to the Nation which has cared for this ‘Crown’ territory for 76 years.
Various other issues like the problems of dismissed Nambardars, houses sinking in Ramban area, bad road alignment, slow progress of restoration of Mubarak Mani Heritage complex, blockage of road in front of Jammu Secretariat were among issues of concern raised by various members. It was decided to project these to the Government once again. The President DSS also announced that the next AGM of the DSS is being planned shortly and he shall be meeting some dignitaries to be the Chief guest with DSS which is 119 year old secular democratic, social non political organisation with distinguished members from all religions and all walks of lives.
