Dr Shabnam Ara assumes charge as DSW Cluster University

Dr Ara has been appointed to the post by the vice-chancellor of the University, Prof Qayyum Husain after superannuation of Prof. Abdul Hai who held the position till October 31, reported news agency KNS.

A PhD in Sociology, Dr Ara has a vast experience in academics as well as administrative assignments. In 2014, Dr. Ara was conferred with prestigious Indra Gandhi National Service Scheme (IGNSS) Award for 2013-2014 by the then President of India Pranab Mukherjee.

A keen researcher, she has worked extensively in the field of women and gender studies and drug addiction and has nearly a dozen published papers and two books to her credit.
