DLSA Srinagar and Food Safety Wing Conduct Food Safety Awareness and Inspection Drive at District Court Premises
Srinagar, November 20 : The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar, in collaboration with the Drug & Food Control Organisation (Food Safety Wing Srinagar), organized an awareness programme on the Food Safety Act, accompanied by a thorough inspection of canteens and food courts within the District Court premises.
The initiative, aimed at enhancing food safety standards and ensuring compliance among food service providers in public facilities, was conducted under the esteemed guidance of Mr. Jaffer Hussain Beg, Chairman DLSA/Principal District and Sessions Judge Srinagar, and the supervision of Ms. Nusrat Ali Hakak, Sub-Judge/Secretary DLSA Srinagar.
The inspection team comprised Ms. Nusrat Ali Hakak, Mr. Fida Hussain Nayek (Municipal Magistrate, Srinagar), Mr. Yameen Ul Nabi (Assistant Commissioner, Drug & Food Control Organisation), Mr. Muzaffar (Chief Administrative Officer, District Court Srinagar), Mr. Hakeem Adil, and Mr. Fayaz Ahmed (Food Safety Officers). They were supported by Legal Aid Defence Counsels, Para Legal Volunteers, and other officials from the DLSA.
During the inspection, improvement notices were issued to the canteen and food court operators, addressing compliance issues under the Food Safety Act. This step aims to ensure that all food service providers within the District Court premises meet the mandated safety standards, safeguarding public health.
The initiative also focused on raising awareness among food handlers and canteen operators about the importance of adhering to food safety regulations. By fostering collaboration between legal services and food safety authorities, the DLSA seeks to create a safer dining environment for individuals visiting the court.
