District Shopian records heavy voter turn-out in phase I

Shopian: Deputy Commissioner Shopian Chaudhary Mohammad Yasin today took stock of arrangements put in place at various Polling stations of District Shopian including Zawoora, Shadab Karewa, Manloo, Narpora, Mujpathri, Zampathri, Gatipora, Mastpora, Mashwara, Dunaroo & Keller where voting for Ist Phase of District Development Council (DDC) & Bye Election Panchayat (Sarpanches & Panchs) commenced from 7 Am this morning and took stock of the arrangements put in place in this regard.

People in large number participated in these elections at Keller I & Keller II to cast their votes. District Shopian records heavy voter turnout in phase I.

Deputy Commissioner was informed that process of voting at all these Polling stations is going on peacefully in a free, fair and transparent manner and no untoward incident happened anywhere in the District.

Out of 19781 electorates in first phase of Keller 1 and Keller 2 for District Development Constituencies (DDC) elections 8426 voters cast their votes which is equal to 42.50%.

Regarding the SOP’s related COVID-19 pandemic, the Deputy Commissioner urged the people to follow the guidelines issued by the Election Commission besides put their face masks and maintain the social distance during the Polling.

Meanwhile all the Ballot Boxes of Keller 1 & Keller 2 of phase 1 were received by the concerned authorities and deposited in the strong room at Mini Securitate Arhama Shopian.
