District Police Kulgam arrests 02 drug peddlers; contraband substance recovered

September 29: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Kulgam Police have arrested 02 drug peddlers and recovered large quantity of contraband substance from their possession.
On 29.09.2023 at about 1530 hours, Police party headed by SHO Police station Qazigund during patrolling noticed two persons who were identified as:- Balwinder Singh S/O Dailaish Kumar R/O Shairiwala Ludhiana, Punjab and Harvinder Singh S/O Joginder Singh R/O Walipor Khurad Ludhiana, Punjab roaming in suspicious condition carrying Luggage bags were intercepted. But after noticing police party they tried to flee from the spot. They were chased and apprehended tactfully. After checking of their Luggage bags; officers present were able to recover 19Kgs of Poppy Straw like contraband substance.
In this regard, a case with FIR No. 213/2023 U/S 8/15, 29 of NDPS act has been registered at police station Qazigund and investigation has been taken up.

People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.
