Jammu, January 5, 2024 – In an unyielding battle against the drug menace, the Jammu Police has made extraordinary strides throughout 2024, reinforcing its commitment to eradicating the threat of narco-crimes in the region. With an extensive crackdown on drug-related activities, the year has seen landmark achievements in arrests, seizures, and public awareness initiatives.
Record-Breaking Numbers in the Fight Against Drugs
The Jammu Police registered 200 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, resulting in the arrest of 300 drug peddlers. Among these, 246 individuals were apprehended in 153 heroin (Chitta)-related cases. Additionally, 83 vehicles linked to drug trafficking were seized.
Highlighting their no-tolerance policy, 19 hardened drug offenders were detained under the stringent PIT NDPS Act. This decisive move underscores the department’s relentless approach toward habitual criminals.
Seizing Assets and Breaking Financial Chains

Such measures directly target the economic foundations of drug trafficking, marking a crucial step in dismantling the nexus.
Massive Contraband Seizures and Demolitions

This recovery exemplifies the magnitude of the drug trade and the department’s unwavering commitment to disrupting the supply chain. Furthermore, four drug hotspots were demolished, showcasing a robust and collaborative effort between law enforcement, civil administration, and the general public.

Recognizing the importance of rehabilitation, the Jammu Police operationalized one of the largest Police Drug Deaddiction, Rehabilitation, and Mental Health Care Centres at Channi, Jammu, in March 2024. Equipped with advanced facilities, this center has been a beacon of hope for drug victims.
Since its inception in 2013, the center has treated 16,645 patients in its OPD and 1,915 inpatients. In 2024 alone, 1,486 OPD patients and 287 inpatients sought treatment, highlighting its pivotal role in tackling addiction.
