DIG Central Kashmir Range inaugurates Range level U-19 T-20 Cricket Tournament at SK Stadium Srinagar

To provide youth a platform and channelize their energy in Sports and games, today a Range level U-19 T-20 Cricket Tournament here at SK Stadium Sonwar Srinagar was inaugurated by
Shri Amit Kumar-IPS, DIG Central Kashmir Range Srinagar.
The officers present at the opening ceremony included SP City East Ms. Sheema Nabi-IPS,SP City North Shri Sandeep Gupta-IPS,SP hqrs Srinagar Shri Majid Malik-JKPS,SP City South Shri Sajad Ahmad Shah-JKPS,SP City West Shri Shahzad Ahmad Salaria-IPS,Staff to DIG CKR Shri Irshad H.Rather-JKPS, DySP DAR Srinagar Shri Feroz Qadri, DySP Hqrs Srinagar Shri Sleem Jahangir-JKPS,SDPO Nehru Park Shri Sachit Sharma-JKPS and other Officers/Officials of Police department.Huge gathering including members of civil society and media were also present on the occasion.
Total 06 teams from the Central Kashmir Range(02 each from Srinagar,Budgam and Ganderbal)will participate in the tournament.Tournamament will be played on league-cum-knock out basis and the two best teams will then play at the zonal level.
Staff officer to DIG CKR welcomed all the guests and participants of 06 teams(KMR Tigers Harwan,Khanyar Knight Riders,Budgam Reds,Budgam Greens,Ganderbal Blues and Ganderbal Reds) and emphasized that Jammu & Kashmir Police has always been looking for positive activities and is always on the fore-front to organise various youth engagements programmes and this one is also a step forward in this direction.
DIG CKR Shri Amit Kumar-IPS after interaction with the participats emphasized upon the youth to take part in games and sports and encourage others to follow the same.DIG CKR said that one of the basic objectives of organising this tournament is to explore hidden talent of budding youth and give them opportunity to improve and elevate their skills and at the same time keep them away from drug abuse and other social evils.
The participants were informed that the best performing two teams shall be selected to compete at Zonal/UT Level,which will provide them a UT/National level platform.
