DGP sanctions financial assistance of over Rs 4.32 Cr for 451 cops

Jammu: Continuing with an aim to provide more and more welfare measures for police personnel and to provide financial assistance to meet their urgent needs, Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh Monday sanctioned over Rupees 4.32 crore welfare loan, relief in favour of 451 officers and personnel of J&K Police vide Police Headquarters order number 888 of 2021.

Under this order, rupees 90 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of 102 personnel to meet the expenses of self-treatment or for treatment of their dependents.

According to a statement, the welfare loan given for the treatment purpose varies from rupees 50000 to rupees 200000. Rupees one lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of 317 personnel for their own marriage, and marriage of sons/daughters. Loan of rupees one lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of 19 police personnel for higher education of their wards. Rupees 50 thousands each have been sanctioned in favour of 13 persons for performing rituals like circumcision/mundan of their wards.

Among 102 personnel who have been given welfare loan for the treatment purpose, rupees 350000 has been sanctioned as welfare relief in favour of twenty personnel. The welfare relief ranges from rupees 10000 to rupees 25000 which is non refundable.

The welfare loan sanctioned to the Police personnel is refundable and will be recovered in monthly installments from their salaries without any interest. The amount has been sanctioned out of the Central Police Welfare Fund.

Police headquarters under different welfare schemes is providing assistance to all the ranks of Jammu and Kashmir Police including the wards of martyr police personnel and wards of martyr SPOs.

Besides, meritorious scholarship for the brilliant students of in-service, SPOs, martyred/deceased Police personnel is provided to inculcate the spirit of competition among them. (KNO)
