Detained Under PSA, 66-Yr Old Prisoner Dies
Srinagar: A 66-year-old prisoner associated with Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front who was lodged in Kot Balwal jail in Jammu under Public Safety Act died on Tuesday after developing health complications.
Ghulam Hassan Malik alias Noor Khan, a resident of Ijara Pehlipora in Boniyar area of Baramulla district was in prison since January and was not keeping well, family members said.
“We received a call from jail authorities few days back and they said that the condition of Malik is not well as such family members should visit him,” his son said.
“Malik was not keeping well since last several days in the jail and despite his deteriorating health condition he was neither shifted to Srinagar jail nor was provided adequate medical facility at Jammu,” he alleged. Three members of Malik’s family have gone to Jammu to bring back his body.
The dossier prepared by police under no CS/PSA/2018/606-09, dated 30-01-2018 reads: “You have been reportedly involved in terrorist related activities since long. You carried subversive activities under the banner of JKLF outfit and your activities are aimed at liberating the state of J&K from the union of India.” reads the dossier. (GK)
