Dentists demand government recruitment jobs in JK UT

TRAL: Urging the state government to create posts to absorb them, the dental surgeons here Thursday complained that callous attitude of government has put career of thousands of dental doctors.

The posts for dental surgeons were advertised by the Public Service Commission (PSC) way back in February 2008 and since then no fresh recruitments have been made, adding to the number of unemployed dental graduates.Dr Hanzallah Manzoor said.

More than 500 Dentists have become overaged for govt. jobs without giving JKPSC exams. Himachal Government issues 50-100 posts every year. Our file of 587 Dentist posts is denied every time by the Finance Department excusing shortage of funds. If they lack funds, why is Dental Infrastructure being modified with 350 students passing out every year?”

He further added that the Dental surgeons in Jammu and Kashmir should be given chances to serve the UT and play their role in helping the patients. She added”.

While talking with the ANN NEWS NETWORK TV “Dr Umar Farooq ” said that the Most of the people in Jammu and Kashmir cannot afford to go for private clinics because the economy of the erstwhile state has already been hit during the continuous lockdowns,” he added.

According to norms, there should be at least two dentists in a Sub-District Hospital and for a Primary Health Centre there must be a dental surgeon and an assistant.

He, further, stated that as per the population ratio of World Health Organisation (WHO), in Urban areas there’s 1 doctor for 7500 patients, and in Rural areas 1 doctor for 10,000 patients but in Jammu Kashmir, there is 1 doctor for 30,000 patients.
