Deepika Padukone’s father Prakash Padukone hospitalised due to COVID-19
Deepika’s mother Ujjala Padukone, sister Anisha have also tested positive
Bengaluru: Badminton legend and actress Deepika Padukone’s father Prakash Padukone has been hospitalised in Bengaluru days after testing positive for coronavirus.
The 65-year-old is likely to be discharged later this week. His wife Ujjala Padukone and younger daughter Anisha Padukone have also contracted the virus, but have been advised home isolation.
“Around 10 days back, Prakash, his wife and Anisha, developed symptoms and got themselves tested and the results came out to be positive. They got themselves isolated but after a week, Prakash’s fever didn’t come down, so last Saturday, he was admitted to a hospital here in Bengaluru,” Vimal Kumar, director of Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy (PPBA) and a close friend of the shuttler, said.
He added, “He is okay now. All his parameters are fine, his wife and daughter are at home and he too will be hopefully discharged in 2-3 days.”
Padukone is the first Indian to win the prestigious All England Championships title in 1980. He is also the first Indian to win a medal at the World Championships after clinching a bronze in the 1983 edition.
Meanwhile, earlier in April, Deepika, along with husband Ranveer Singh had taken off to Bengaluru to spend some quality time with her family.
