Poonch, Feb 11: The work on Mini Secretariat complex undertaken by Public Works Department (PWD) in 2011 in Mendhar here is far from complete. The work on Rs 14cr -project is in limbo as officials cite lack of funds to complete it.
The locals urged the government to expedite the work on the Mini Secretariat, keeping in view the problems faced by them.
“One can see that whatever construction was done is now crumbling,” the locals said, adding, “Mendhar has been ignored on developmental front by the successive governments and is witnessing step-motherly treatment by the government.”
As per officials, over Rs 7 crore were spent on the construction work of the project before work came to standstill.
The residents appealed the authorities to get the work on the complex completed as early as possible.
AEE PWD Mendhar, Raman Kumar Bhagat when contacted told GNS that the construction work of the building was delayed due to lack of funds.
“The estimated cost of the building is Rs 14 crore and out of it, only Rs 7 corers were released. As soon as the remaining funds are released, the construction work will resume,” he said. (GNS)
